I consider the following sites wonderful places to shop for supplies, see great artwork, get inspired or learn new things. Enjoy.
Jerry's Artarama Nice selection of pastels, both sets and open stock, low prices and a one-sized shipping rate.
Dakota Pastels Nice selection of pastels and supplies- good sales sometimes, too!
Art and Artistry A wonderful cyber community of helpful and very skilled artists in almost all mediums. I recommend this one.
Wetcanvas The Grandmama of all artist communities boasting over 85,000 members. You can easily get lost here- but you'll enjoy it!
Painter's Keys If you haven't signed up for Robert Genn's inspirational newsletters, you have no idea what you're missing. Wise advice and down-to-earth ideas.
ADyinArt Some very good stuff here- Sue is not only a fine artist, she is thorough in explaining the how and why of each step in her work. She also represents Shiva products for Jack Richeson Co, and is a featured artist in their catalogue.
Kim Denise Pronounced "De-nice", and not only is she, her work's nice, too! I met Kim not long after she first started using pastels, and I am in awe of how fast and far she has come with her art- some wonderful stuff here.
Mikki Petersen does some wonderfully strong work with solid technique using both line and mass. She is soon to be traveling all over the US and Canada, painting everything, everywhere.
Tom Christopher My favorite pastel landscapist- he makes the midwest look so inviting! His technique is loose but so very accurate- well worth the time.
Silver Chord An artists' guild I, and a few of those listed here, founded and belong to, with examples of work, and, hopefully in the future, tips, tricks, wips and more.
Michael Newberry is a classical realist who uses both oils and pastels. His work is sublime- gorgeous pieces of glowing light and soft shadows. He also offers many tutorials and a mentorship program- this site is well-worth the time.
And for those with a sense of adventure, and a need to feel the wind in their hair, visit Chop's Garage- but be warned: Motorcycle Mamas are part of the scenery!
